Le Coq Sportif is a French brand founded in 1882 by Émile Camuse that produces sportswear. Its name derives from the Gallic rooster, the national symbol of France. It is currently a multinational company headquartered in Entzheim, Alsace (France) and present in 11 countries. Le Coq Sportif returns to the Tour de France in 2012 after a 24-year absence to sponsor the yellow jersey and other commemorative apparel (the green jersey for the regularity race, the white jersey for the under-25s, and the mountains jersey that identifies the mountain leader). Taking advantage of the brand's 130th anniversary, the brand will once again supply the famous leader's jerseys for the world's most important stage cycling race. For Le Coq Sportif , its return to the great French cycling event marks a return to its roots. Since 1951, Le Coq Sportif's workshops have received the prestigious commission to design the Tour de France team jerseys. A kit worn by the world's most renowned cycling legends for 40 years in their victories, from Jacques Anquetil to Bernard Hinault, including Eddy Mercks, Federico Martín Bahamontes, Luis Ocaña, and Perico Delgado. Spanish cyclist Pedro Delgado was the last Tour de France champion to wear the yellow jersey created by Le Coq Sportif, and he highlighted some of the new jerseys' features, such as their defined lines, their retro inspiration reminiscent of the 1951 designs, and the use of highly technical polyester and elastane. This ultra-light, micro-ventilated material blend provides excellent breathability and a 14 percent reduction in jersey weight. The partnership between Le Coq Sportif and Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) extends beyond the Tour de France to encompass all cycling events organized by ASO. These include the Vuelta a Espana , the Paris-Roubaix , the Paris-Nice , and the 5th Critérium de la Dauphiné . More than a partnership, this agreement is a sincere and passionate choice, a testament to Le Coq Sportif's historical commitment to cycling.
